In light of the rapidly approaching SEE exams, many students may wonder how to study efficiently enough. Exams are a massively stressful time for the vast majority, as they bring a huge load of pressure and worry. I remember feeling worried during that time since I was afraid, I would not be able to study properly enough to get well in the exams. However, certain tricks could help you study much more effectively as the clock ticks by every second. One of the main things to note is that staying calm at such a crucial time is a massive help while trying to study. Panicking and stressing not only wasted my time but also wasted my energy. Later on, I came to realise that the more I dwelled on the fact that I was unprepared, the more I could be studying instead. I found it much easier to study once I was in a calm state of mind. So, it is crucial to make sure that you are calm and collected while studying.
Another crucial task is to carefully plan out your study materials. I found it highly efficient to organise the topics or sub-topics I was planning to study. By doing this, you can identify which topics you feel confident in and do not require as much revision and which topics you need to put a lot of focus on. I felt that this helped me study difficult topics properly and was time efficient as well. Overall, just studying when you're feeling calmer and happier just boosts studying efficiency. Following this, one study method that helped me study faster was making flashcards and quizzing myself. Since I studied alone most of the time, making flashcards helped with memorization, especially when it came to science since there were a lot of facts that needed to be memorized. Along with this, the method that worked the absolute best for me was teaching others. By teaching my friends certain topics, I increasingly felt more and more confident in certain subjects and topics. Even when I was studying alone, I would pretend to explain something to someone; this greatly helped me understand the topic I was studying, as just reading in your mind sometimes doesn't work for some of us.
There are many different ways to study, and it might take some time to find the best one for you because everyone learns differently. So, it's a good idea to spend a bit of time looking for the right study method. You can find lots of study tips on social media, and some might work well for you if they match how you like to study. Also, remember to take breaks when you're studying. Even though you might want to study a lot before exams, taking breaks is really important. If you study without breaks, it can be harder to remember what you've learned. During my study time, I always took a 20-minute break to drink water and relax. This helped me remember things better and feel less stressed. I also used the break to think over what I'd learned, which made me feel more confident. So, finding the right study method and taking breaks can really help you study better.
It's important to remember that studying isn't the only thing that matters. Taking care of your physical and mental health is crucial for performing well on exams. I always made sure to get enough sleep and eat well so I'd have the energy to study effectively. Quality studying is more important than studying for long hours. Also, staying hydrated and eating enough food helped me avoid feeling tired or sick during exams. I hope my advice helps those who are preparing for exams. Good luck to everyone!
