Two year old boy dies after drowning in waterlogged pit

 By Ajay Shah, Gaushala (Mahottari), May 9: A two-year-old child died after drowning in a water-filled pit dug for a brick kiln in Mahottari on Saturday.

According to the District Police Office, the deceased has been identified as Hira Bahadur Ranamagar, son of Dil Bahadur Ranamagar of Pachatalle, Marin Rural Municipality-8, in Sindhuli.

Police said the child drowned while playing in stagnant water collected in a pit excavated for the construction of the chimney at New Baba Fix Brick Industry, owned by Hari Narayan Yadav, located in Aurahi Municipality-2. 

Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Mahottari,  Shailendra Bhatt said that a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Gaushala, reached the incident site and carried out the preliminary investigation. 

The body is being prepared for post-mortem examination at the Provincial Hospital in Jaleshwar.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
