Concession on electricity tariff to promote manufacturing sector

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 29: The government has unveiled policy to provide discount on electricity tariff to promote manufacturing industry.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle said so while presenting the annual budget for fiscal year of 2026/027 at the joint meeting of the federal parliament- the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.

"We will arrange for concession on electricity tariff by reviewing power demand fee so as to enhance competitiveness of the manufacturing industry. Industrialist can mortgage their structure built in special economic zone, leased land or industrial estate," said the Finance Minister in his budget speech.

Entrepreneurship Revival Loan will be provide to businesses and industries not able to run in full capacity due to the lack of capital in order to motivate them for capacity expansion and growth, said the Finance Minister in the 27 point of the 80-point long budget.
