Nepali cricket team playing All India Gold Cup seen off

Dodhara Chandani (Kanchanpur), May 28: Bhimdutta Municipality in Kanchanpur and Kanchanpur District Cricket Association bade farewell to the Nepal 'A' National Team playing the All India Gold Cup Cricket Tournament. 

Deputy Mayor of Bhimdutta Municipality Neelam Joshi and Chairperson of the District Cricket Association Kanchanpur Birendra Bahadur Chand today saw off the Nepal 'A' team playing the 42nd All India Gold Cup Cricket Tournament to be held in Uttarakhand, India. 

The Nepali team, led by captain Anil Kumar Sah, has departed for India via the Gaddachauki border. 

The team comprises Mayan Yadav, Trit Raj Das, Dev Khanal, Rasid Khan, Basir Ahmad, Narayan Joshi, Akash Chand, Hemant Dhami, Pawan Saraf, Deepak Dumre, Yubaraj Khatri, Bipin Khatri, Lalit Rajbamshi, and Arjun Kumal. 

Nepal will play its first match against Kerala on May 30. Then after, Nepal will play against Goa on May 31 and Odisha on June 2. 

The quarterfinals of the tournament will be held on June 4, the semifinals on June 6, and the final on June 7. 

Nepal ‘A’ coach Raju Basnyat said that the Nepali team would go to Uttarakhand to play matches against teams from various states of India. 

“This is a prestigious tournament in India. We believe it will develop positive energy among our players,” he said, adding that, “Playing here will boost the morale of Nepali players and will be rewarding in terms of experience.” (RSS)
