Kathmandu, May 28: As many as 588 children vulnerable to violence and various forms of risks have been rescued in the current fiscal year.
According to the Economic Survey 2082/83 made public by the government, up to Falgun (mid-March) in the current fiscal year, the government has provided necessary relief, protection, counseling, and other services to a total of 7,462 children, including the 588 rescued.
In the fiscal year 2081/82, immediate rescue was carried out for 1,055 children subjected to violence and at risk.
Similarly, under the government's campaign to make Nepal free of street children, a total of 2,658 street children (2,258 boys and 400 girls) were rescued, protected and managed from 9 May 2016 to 16 March 2026.
The National Strategy and Implementation Plan to End Child Marriage, 2082, and the Child-Responsive Budget Indicator Procedure, 2082, have been approved and implemented. A total of 1,176 children involved in legal disputes are in 10 juvenile correction centers. In the current fiscal year, a juvenile correction center has been started in the central prison in Nuwakot to manage children (boys) above 18 years.(RSS)
