Cost of infrastructure building high in hilly and mountainous regions

Kathmandu, May 28: Though rural population is declining, urban population is on rise, which has impacted on per person cost of infrastructure building and service delivery in hilly and mountainous regions.

It is revealed by Economic Survey, 2082/83.     

The Tarai/Madhes region with high population density is in stress to increase investment for mega infrastructures.     

Rapid urbanization, urban-centric expansion of economic activities and improvement in livelihood has further necessitated planned urbanization, well management housing and smooth supply of energy.     

The government has stressed sewerage and waste management, drinking water, green public spaces and integrated development.     

 As per survey, Tarai/Madhes region which covers some 17 percent of total land has homed 53.7 percent population, while the hilly and mountainous region homes.     

 Worth mentioning is the electricity production and reaches in Nepal. As many as 99.1 percent population has access to electricity.(RSS)
