Fire destroys all 14 houses of a Kavre village

By Kedar Timilsina,Kavrepalanchok, May.1: All the houses of Sanopota village in Roshi Rural Municipality-4 of Kavrepalanchok district were destroyed by a fire on Tuesday afternoon. 

In the incident, all 14 houses of the village were completely damaged by the fire. The fire initially broke out when a local was burning thorny plants in his field and spread across the settlement when a powerful wind blew. 

District Police Office Kavrepalanchok said that the fire entered the village from the local Mahadevtar community forest. 

The police said that 14 houses of local citizens were burnt down in the fire.

The police said that no human or animal casualty was reported. Dinesh Lama, Chairman of Roshi Rural Municipality, who reached the scene, said that 13 main house buildings, and half a dozen cowsheds were destroyed by the fire. 

Lama said that the fire in the settlement was brought under control, but the fire in the is still spreading. 

He said that the Rural Municipality would provide tarpaulins for temporary housing and some food will be distributed to the families whose food grains were destroyed. 

Sunil Shahi, ward secretary of Roshi Rural Municipality-4, said that the houses in Sanopota were completely damaged in the fire. 

He said that many houses were damaged because the fire could not be brought under control in time due to the wind. 

Prem Tamang, a local and former ward member of Roshi Rural Municipality-4, said that the fire broke out while burning thorns near the ward office on Tuesday. 

Within a minute, the fire spread across the area, he said.

 The houses of local Ram Tamang, Satyalal Tamang, Tirthaman Tamang, Dhanbir Tamang, Dhankaji Tamang, Janak Tamang, Padam Tamang, along with former ward member Tamang were completely destroyed. 

Former ward member Tamang said that houses of Kadka Bahadur Tamang, Pahal Bahadur Tamang, Narman Tamang, Tukman Tamang and Sukman Tamang were also destroyed in the fire. 

Although there was no loss of life and livestock, food grains and clothes were destroyed.
