Kathmandu, May 15: The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to issue an interim order in a writ petition filed, demanding that Nepali film Lalibazaar not to be released.
A division bench comprising SC Justices Mahesh Sharma Paudel and Sunil Kumar Pokharel on Friday upheld the order issued by the High Court, Patan.
Earlier, the High Court had denied issuing an order as demanded by a petitioner, clearing the obstruction for film screening. One Roshani Nepali had approached the court, seeking to halt the film's release. "The SC has endorsed the High Court's verdict on the Lalibazaar," said SC Joint-Spokesperson Nirajan Pandey.
Film producer Max Dipesh Khatri claimed that the film contains no scenes or dialogues capable of hurting the sentiments or dignity of any community or class. The film revolves around the story of a mother and daughter from the Badi Community. (RSS)
