By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 15: The Property Investigation Commission (PIC) has urged all stakeholders to submit details of their personal and family members’ property within one month of the publication of the notice.
A five-member commission, formed under the chairmanship of former Supreme Court judge Rajendra Kumar Bhandari, issued a public notice on Thursday urging all stakeholders who have held public positions in various capacities in government bodies, ministries, departments, the army, police, and Armed Police Force (APF), to submit property details both within Nepal and abroad, within one month of the notice publication.
The notice also states that the commission formally began its work on April 23, from its office at the Kaiser Mahal building in Thamel.
The commission has requested all individuals who held public positions from 2006/07 to mid-April, 2026 to submit their property details by appearing in person at the commission or through a representative within one month.
“In the first phase, the commission has been mandated to collect and investigate property details of political office-holders, civil servants, and those who have already retired after holding public positions during the period from fiscal year 2006/07 to mid-April, 2026, including assets held in Nepal and abroad in their own names or their family members, and to submit a report,” states the public notice.
The commission has also warned that those who knowingly submit incomplete or false property details, or fail to submit their property details within the specified period, will face action in accordance with the law.
According to the notice, those who are supposed to submit the property details, include the then executive head of the government, Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers, State Ministers, Assistant Ministers, the then members of the parliament, and constituent assembly members, chiefs of the of constitutional bodies, departments, and subordinate offices of different ministries, as well as their supporting staff, provincial chiefs, chief ministers, employees of provincial governments, local levels, and related bodies.
Similarly, employees of security agencies including Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepali Army of, as well as retired personnel of these bodies are also made liable to submit the property details.
Likewise, employees of public institutions and public corporations, office-bearers and members of district development committees and local level committees, governors of the Nepal Rastra Bank, board members of NRB, deputy governors, executive director, and other employees of banks and financial institutions, attorney generals and employees of the judicial sector, individuals serving in diplomatic missions and international organisations on behalf of Nepal, all individuals who have held or are holding positions in public, governmental, or semi-governmental bodies during the specified period are required to submit their property details.
On April 15, the government had formed a five-member commission led by Bhandari. The members include Purushottam Parajuli, Chandi Raj Dhakal, Ganesh KC, and CA Prakash Lamsal.
