By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Nov. 11: Eleven individuals, severely injured in the Jajarkot earthquake last Friday night, have undergone surgeries at Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj.

Dr. Sanket Kumar Risal, Information Officer of Bheri Hospital, said, “Eleven individuals who sustained injuries on different parts of their bodies, including arms, legs, and head after their houses collapsed due to earthquake, have undergone surgeries.”

Risal said, “There are still individuals with injuries who require surgeries and the hospital plans to perform their surgeries gradually.”

Injured individuals from Jajarkot and Rukum West were brought to Bheri Hospital a day after the earthquake.

According to Risal, surgeries are being conducted sequentially, considering the condition of the injured individuals.

Senior Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Prakash Thapa said that the surgery is being performed sequentially after considering the condition of the injured individual.

Most of the victims have sustained multiple injuries in their body parts, so they have to undergo surgery immediately, he said.

Dr. Thapa clarified that surgeries would be done based on how urgently patients need them. “Those needing immediate attention will be operated on first, followed by those with less urgent needs,” he added.

A team of senior Orthopedic doctors, including Dr. Thapa and Tithendra Khadka, have been performing surgeries on the injured.

Chairman of the Bheri Hospital Development Committee Birendra Shah said that every effort has been made to treat the earthquake victims, including surgical procedures.

He also mentioned that those who underwent surgery are recovering rapidly.

According to him, a total of 57 individuals, who sustained injuries in Jajarkot-earthquake have been brought to Bheri Hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, one person lost his life on the way to the hospital, he added.

Among the individuals admitted to the hospital, three have been referred to elsewhere for additional treatment, while four have successfully recovered and returned home.

Two injured individuals are in critical condition, he added.
