By Our Correspondent,Dhalkebar, Apr. 5: Dhanusha District Police Office, on Monday, busted an illegal call centre at Pidari Chowk in Ward No. 14 of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City and arrested 23 individuals.

"Nine women and 14 men were arrested. We had raided the office following a special tipoff that some illegal activities were being performed there," said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bed Bahadur Gautam of the district police.

The arrested individuals, who were employees at the office, were aged 20 to 28 years. DSP Gautam also informed that they seized 90 computer sets from the office.

Preliminary investigation has shown that the call centre was duping individuals with online scams, exposing people's privacy and performed hacking for economic benefit.

Police informed that Satyananda Ram, a resident of Pakaha Mainpur Rural Municipality of Parsa district, and Sanju Sah, a resident of Sabaila Municipality of Dhanusha, were the owners of the office.

They had been operating the office in Janakpurdham for the past three months under the Kathmandu-based Dilaji IT Company.

"We will be investigating the computers with the help of experts to identify the works performed in the office. The owners are also being searched for," said DSP Gautam.
