By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 19: Revenue Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire has said that the development of the online system operated by the Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) had made its transactions easier.
Speaking at the 33rd anniversary of the CIT Saturday, he said that errors started to decrease after data was taken from the electronic government accounting system.
He also expressed the opinion that the attraction towards the CIT was increasing compared to other competing organisations.
Chairman of Board of Directors of CIT Prof. Dr. Surya Bahadur Thapa said that the CIT was strengthening itself and working towards fulfilling the national aspirations.
He emphasised that in order to support the country's economic growth rate and create jobs in the future, investment should be expanded in productive sectors such as agriculture, tourism, energy and infrastructure development.
Executive director of CIT Raman Nepal said that net saving at CIT was Rs. 206.19 billion by mid-January of the current fiscal year while it invested Rs. 205.69 billion.
Stating that the CIT gave high priority to choose safe and return-oriented projects of national pride and impact, he said that it would give preference to infrastructure development in the future as well.
He informed that branch offices had been operated outside Kathmandu Valley in Biratnagar, Pokhara, Butwal, Attaria and Surkhet to provide services to savers and also attract others towards the CIT.
