Gandaki, May 15: The tourism-related organisations in Pokhara City, including the Hotel Association here, have demanded an effective monitoring of late-night commercial activities.

A delegation led by Hotel Association, Pokhara visited Kaski's Chief District Officer Rudra Devi Sharma on Friday and handed over a memorandum to her to this regard. The memorandum sought stricter inspection and control of 'malpractices' being carried out in the name of after-hours business.

The delegation urged the District Administration to ensure an effective implementation of a 42-point code of conduct related to the nighttime business. The code of conduct was issued on March 17, 2024, allowing the operation of business for 24 hours provided they comply with the regulations

It was argued in the letter of attention that there was poor implementation of the code of conduct, resulting in increasing noise pollution and irregularities, and even posing a security threat. The authority has been demanded shut down such businesses after 2:00 am. (RSS)
