By Our Correspondent,Rukum Paschim, Oct. 13: Rukum West and Pokhara are now connected by air for the first time.
Tourist city Pokhara and Rukum West’s Salle have been connected by a flight operated by Tara Air, which began flight last Friday. This marks the first-ever air connection between Pokhara and Rukum West.
According to Tara Air's representative for Rukum West, Lalbir Bohora, regular flights will now be operated. He said that the flight service has been initiated primarily for the promotion of tourism. The aim is to bring tourists who visit Pokhara to Rukum West.
He believes that bringing both domestic and international tourists to Rukum West via Pokhara will help boost tourism in the region. Bohora added that the flights will be operated twice a week, on Fridays and Saturdays.
According to Bohara, on Fridays, flights will operate from Kathmandu to Pokhara to Rukum to Nepalgunj, and on Saturdays, flights will operate from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj to Rukum to Pokhara. This air route will make it easier to travel from Rukum to Kathmandu via Pokhara, and vice-versa. Previously, Tara Air operated flights from Nepalgunj to Rukum West.
The Mid-Hill Highway had already connected Rukum West and Pokhara, but due to the challenging terrain, travellers often faced difficulties.
Now, with the introduction of the air service, they will have an easier and more comfortable travel option. The Nepal Airlines Corporation has also been operating flights from Salle Airport to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu.
