By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 30: The government has proposed a collaboration with the government of Finland to improve education in Nepal.
The proposal was put forward during a courtesy meeting between Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, and Finland’s Ambassador to Nepal, Petri Puhakka, held at the ministry on Thursday.
During the meeting, Minister Pokharel highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between Nepal and Finland, expressing gratitude for Finland’s continued support in Nepal’s development, particularly in the education sector.
He also
briefed the ambassador on the government’s priorities and upcoming plans,
appreciating the contributions made through ongoing educational programs.
The
minister expressed hope for continued Finnish support in Nepal’s education and
other development sectors in the coming years.
Discussions
also focused on enhancing bilateral relations, mobilizing development
assistance, and expanding partnerships in education.
On the
occasion, Ambassador Puhakka reaffirmed Finland’s commitment to continue its
support to Nepal’s education sector for the next five years.
Currently,
Finland is supporting Nepal through programs such as the School Education
Sector Program and the Teachers Education Project.
In line
with Nepal’s policy to establish autism schools, Ambassador Puhakka noted
Finland’s expertise in autism and inclusive education and expressed willingness
to collaborate in these areas.
Finland
has also shown interest in partnering with Nepal on its priority agenda of
digital transformation.
