Nir Shah receives Bijulimaya Bana Music Award

Award By Our Correspondent,Hetauda, Jan. 30: The 16th Bijulimaya Bana Shrestha International Music Award- 2081 has been conferred on veteran artist and lyricist Nir Shah.

The Bhim Birag Sangit Sahitya Kala Pratisthan Nepal, Hetauda, presented the award to Shah amid a programme. 

 Along with the award, Shah received Rs.  100,000 in recognition of his unparalleled contribution to Nepali music.

Shah has been continuously contributing to modern songs as well as the film industry for the past five decades.

 Entrepreneur Kanhaiya Krishna Shrestha established the international music award in 2008 in the name of his mother, Bijulimaya Bana: Shrestha.

Speaking at the ceremony, artist Shah said that he had never written songs intending to be recognised as a lyricist. 

Previously, this award was conferred on Ambar Gurung, Prem Dhoj Pradhan, Bhakta Raj Acharya, Phatteman Rajbhandari, Shanti Thatal, Deep Shrestha, Prakash Shrestha, Nhuchhe Bahadur Dangol, Mira Rana, Karma Yonjan, Chetan Karki, Dawa Gyalmo, Deepak Jangam, Kiran Pradhan and Rajendra Thapa.

Writer Nagendra Thapa and award founder Kanhiya Krishna Shrestha presented the award to Shah.
