By Our Correspondent,Bajura, Apr. 19: Badimalika Municipality's 19th municipal assembly unveiled annual policy and programmes for the fiscal year 2025/26 (2082/83).
Mayor Amar Bahadur Khadka tabled the document during the meeting.
The policy prioritises agriculture, education, health, tourism and infrastructure. In agriculture, it includes programmes such as “One Ward, One Product”, direct farmer-to-market linkages, and the promotion of medicinal herb farming.
It also proposes a youth-focused participation and innovation programme, along with a “Digital Badimalika” campaign to expand technology-friendly public services.
In education, the municipality plans to make e-attendance systems, ICT-based teaching and school improvement plans mandatory. In the health sector, the policy includes the expansion of telemedicine services, measures to prevent shortages of essential medicines, and programmes to improve maternal and child health.
To promote tourism, the municipality aims to expand religious tourism and homestay programmes, alongside infrastructure development and the completion of ongoing projects.
Priority has also been given to upgrading roads, expanding drinking water and irrigation systems, and constructing bridges.
The meeting only presented the policy and programme, while discussions and endorsement will take place in the next session. The municipal assembly has been adjourned until further notice.
