BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Makwanpur, Dec. 6: Bhim Birag Music, Literature and Art Institute Nepal has announced that this year’s ‘Bijuli Maya Wana Shrestha International Music Award’ will be presented to lyricist Neer Bikram Shah. Shah, the prominent filmmaker, has also been actively involved in Nepali songwriting for over five decades. He will be presented with the 16th edition of the award.
Shah, who has mostly dedicated himself to filmmaking, direction and acting, has been a consistent presence in Nepali songwriting since 1975. He has collaborated with prominent musicians and singers such as Chandra Raj Sharma, CK Rasaili, Narayan Gopal, Ranjit Gajmer, Shambhujit Baskota, Manohar Pandey, Prakash Shrestha, Deepak Kharel, Anju Devi, Mira Rana and Udit Narayan Jha.
The institute's General Secretary, Chhabi Anitya, has informed that the award is being presented in recognition of Shah’s significant contribution to Nepali music.
