International Chinese Language Day marked in Kathmandu

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 26: The seventh International Chinese Language Day has been marked in Kathmandu amidst a ceremony with the slogan Chinese Language: Let's brighten colorful dreams.

Speaking in the programme, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Maoming expressed respect to and thanked all those who dedicated themselves for Chinese language education in Nepal and thus contributed to strengthen mutual understanding between civilisations and cultural exchange of Nepal and China.

The ceremony was organized by the Confucius Institute in TU (CITU) in collaboration with Chinese Culture Center, Kathmandu University Confucius Institute, LRI Confucius class and China Southern Airlines, according to the press note issued by the CITU.

Vice-chancellor of TU, Prof. Dr. Dipak Aryal lauded the cooperation of Chinese universities with TU on scientific research, educational and cultural matters.

He said TU had relation with the Chinese language since 1961 and that after establishment of the CITU, educational cooperation was going in a planned manner and that about 700 students were learning Chinese from 14 educational centers if TU across the country.

Prof. Zhang Xingnian, CITU director from China side, viewed that learning Chinese is also the way to gain a medium for opening new possibilities and opportunities.
