By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 25: The release date of Maya Bhanekai Yasto Hola, directed by actress Rekha Thapa, has been officially confirmed. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas nationwide on September 11.

Previously, the production team had suggested that the film would be released during the Teej festival, although a specific date had not been finalised.

This project marks Rekha Thapa’s return to directing after an eight-year hiatus.

She has previously directed successful films such as ‘Himmatwali’ and ‘Malika,’ making this her third directorial venture.

Notably, she has chosen to focus solely on directing this time, rather than acting, and is working outside her own banner, Rekha Films, for the first time.

Produced under the banner of Diya and Amu Films, the film features a blend of veteran and contemporary figures from the Nepali arts industry.

The cast includes Madan Krishna Shrestha, Dil Shrestha, and former Miss Nepal Srishti Shrestha and Namrata Shrestha, alongside former Miss Nepal International Niti Shah in leading roles. Former Miss Nepal Usha Khadgi also makes a special appearance, bringing together four Miss Nepal titleholders in a single production.

Other cast members include Laxmi Giri, Bishal Pahari, Sangam Bhandari, Ravi Dangol, Sunita Shrestha, and Binod Poudel.

The film was completed within 28 days and is currently in the post-production stage.

The film is produced by Hari Narayan Shrestha and Maya Devi Shrestha, with a screenplay by Dhruv Lamsal, who returns to writing after a decade.

The film aims to portray social emotions and settings through a tender love story, featuring cinematography by Sudip Baral and music by Prashant Siwakoti.
