Chaudhary was on his way towards the health post using the route across the rivulet. He was marooned when there was sudden flood in the rivulet when he had reached the middle of the rivulet.

Police reached the site soon after receiving information about the incident and Chaudhary was rescued unhurt after two hours' efforts, said Bishnu Prasad Soti, the Deputy Superintendent at the Area Police Office Lahan. The locals as well as the Armed Police Force also assisted in the rescue.

DSP Soti said efforts are on for relocating the people of settlements near the Sarrekhola rivulet and surrounding areas at Lahan -24 to safe locations in view of the high risk of flooding in these settlements.

People of Jhutki, Khesraha, Dandatol, Sundarpur, Ranha among others are facing inconvenience for lack of a bridge over the rivulet in the area. Movement of people is greatly hampered whenever the rivulet is flooded.
