Application announced for 3rd Theatre fest

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 22: Mandala Theatre Nepal announced the opening of applications for the 3rd edition of the Nepal International Theatre Festival (NITFEST). 

Issuing a press statement on Sunday, Kedar Shrestha, the festival coordinator, informed that the festival was launched on World Theatre Day, March 27. This edition of NITFEST promises to be a vibrant celebration of the transformative power of theatre.

Applications for play submissions are now open until May 31, 2024, and the participants can access detailed information and submission guidelines on the official NITFEST website, www.nitfest.org, mentioned in the press release.  

This year, NITFEST introduces a special segment dedicated to children's theatre, offering a unique opportunity for young audiences to revel in the magic of live performances.

In addition to traditional play submissions, the festival invites applications for various events, including workshops, panel discussions, dance performances, musical showcases, seminars, literary works and cultural celebrations. 

Artists and cultural enthusiasts from across the globe are encouraged to participate and contribute to the festival's diverse lineup.

To apply for other events apart from plays, interested participants can submit applications via a separate Google form by June 30, 2024.

The theme for the 3rd NITFEST is ‘Theatre for Social Transformation: Light of Indigenous Wisdom,’ emphasising the invaluable insights of indigenous communities.  Scheduled from March 16 to March 27, 2025, the festival will feature main events in Kathmandu, accompanied by programmes in various parts of the valley to ensure broad participation and engagement.
