By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 3: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that the development campaign in Nepal has started gaining momentum.
Addressing the Golden Jubilee of Belkot Bhanjyang Secondary School in Belkotgadhi Municipality-1 of Nuwakot Saturday, Finance Minister Dr. Mahat said that the country has started moving towards prosperity with the acceleration of development activities.
According to a press statement of Finance Minister’s secretariat, Dr. Mahat said, “Everybody’s turn comes, now it’s our turn to grow the economy. For this, we should be proud of the country and build confidence that we can do it. Let’s build confidence that something can be done in Nepal.”
He said that the economy which had been affected by political instability, conflict, devastating earthquakes, and COVID-19 pandemic, has started returning to normalcy with the acceleration the development activities.
“Now the economy is on the right track, and the revenue collection has increased by about 10 per cent. The flow of tourists has increased and the arrival of tourists will increase further in the coming days as well,” Minister Dr. Mahat said, “Let’s boost confidence, if investment is made with consideration, production and employment will increase. As production and employment increase, revenue increases.”
When the revenue increases, the ability of the state to provide budget increases. If the size of the budget increases, the capacity to spend on development and construction will increase,” Minister Dr. Mahat said.
He said that the efforts would be made to bring in foreign investment through the international investment summit to be held in April, this year.
“We are also going to organise the World Bank’s big conference in June in Nepal,” he said.
“The country is moving towards something positive. The feeling that something will happen must be conveyed among the people. Confusion and negative comments should be shunned,” he said.
As the country’s economy is returning to normalcy, the government’s priority for the future is focused on creating quality education and employment, he said.
Minister Dr. Mahat requested the parents to create an environment for children to study at home as well.
He urged the teachers to work hard in the school and said, “Computer education should be given to students from an early age. Students can learn many things if they have the internet and computer. The teacher should also be able to teach from the computer.”
On the occasion, Finance Minister Dr. Mahat expressed his commitment to take initiative to make arrangements according to the demand for the construction of the necessary physical structures for the school, development of infrastructure, including roads for the development of the village.
