Moderate rain, snowfall in hill and mountain; Light rain with lightning in Terai

Kathmandu, May 9: There is a persisting influence of the westerly low-pressure system and local winds in Nepal. The presence of low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region of Nepal has affected the weather condition.     

At present, there is generally cloudy weather in the hilly and mountainous areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.     

Remaining Terai areas are partly cloudy. Moderate rainfall is occurring in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, along with light showers with thunder/lightning in one or two places of Madhesh, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, the Weather Forecasting Division informed.     

This afternoon, it will be generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas and partly cloudy in the Terai areas.     

The Division indicated chances of moderate rain/snow with thunder/lightning in some places of the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places of the hilly and mountainous areas of the remaining provinces.     

There is a possibility of light rain with thunder/lightning in one or two places in the Terai, it is stated.     

According to the Division, tonight it will be generally cloudy in Koshi province as well as in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and partly changes in rest of the areas.     

There is a possibility of moderate rain/snow with thunderstorms/lightning in some places of the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi province as well as Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.(RSS)
