By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 27: The family of Jaya Shanker Sah of Barathawa Municipality-6 of Sarlahi, who lost his life in a police firing during a protest, will be provided Rs. 1 million as financial support from the federal government. Sah was killed on January 5, 2024, after sustaining a bullet injury in a protest that ensued after a clash between the police and demonstrators over the issue of upgrading a local primary health centre to a hospital.
The decision was taken by a meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Monday.
Likewise, the Cabinet meeting has decided to extend the deadline of the investigation commission on the control of smuggling of gold until March 13, with effect from February 28.
Informing about the Cabinet decisions, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said that the meeting decided to approve the Public Procurement (13th Amendment) Rules, 2080.
The Cabinet meeting decided to form a committee consisting of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung to study the report and make recommendations to the government by March 3 regarding the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission formed to investigate the Balkumari incident.
Similarly, the Cabinet meeting granted permission to Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Renu Dahal of Chitwan to receive the International Mayor Award from the British government. Furthermore, the Cabinet meeting has decided to declare the local level areas damaged by the earthquake of November 3, 2023, as a disaster-prone area.
