By Our Correspondent,Gaighat, Feb. 15: The Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Kedar Karki, has announced that the provincial government will cover all the medical treatment expenses of children aged up to 10 years in the province.
Chief Minister Karki made this announcement while inspecting Udayapur District Hospital under the provincial government on Tuesday.
“Since all human beings are born naked, the Koshi Provincial Government has under my leadership prepared a budget to provide free treatment to all children in all 14 districts of the province without discriminating against them,” CM Karki said.
On the occasion, Basanta Basnet, Mayor of Triyuga Municipality, and Dr. Gyanendra Jha, the Medical Superintendent of Udayapur Hospital, apprised the Chief Minister of the problems facing the hospital.
They highlighted the shortage of medical staff, ineffectiveness of the oxygen plant, and the need to upgrade the hospital's capacity to accommodate a significant number of patients.
In response, Chief Minister Karki provided a brief response, expressing the need to expand the hospital's capacity, extend the contract of service employees, and provide directives to the relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Karki, during the inauguration of the second provincial festival organised by Triyuga Industry and Commerce Association in Gaighat, said that industry was an essential component of the government. He said that poverty and unemployment could be alleviated only if young people were empowered to become entrepreneurs.
According to him, development is not solely about constructing physical infrastructure but also about nurturing skilled human resources. He highlighted the Koshi government's efforts in producing professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers and entrepreneurs. Furthermore, he mentioned that the government was providing scholarships to support the education of underprivileged children in the province, emphasising its commitment to this cause.
Chief Minister Karki asserted that the current government of Koshi province was established as per the country's constitution and has consistently adhered to the constitutional principles and procedures.
