BY AMAR RAJ NAHARKI,Tanahun, Feb. 10: The expansion work of the eastern section of the Prithvi Highway is moving ahead in full swing, and around 25 kilometres roads have been blacktopped in either direction of the road section.
Shyam Kumar Yadav, the head of the Eastern Section, informed that a total of 24.5 kilometres of blacktopping has been completed so far, with 13.5 kilometres on the right side and 11 kilometres on the left side.
Yadav said, “We have accelerated the blacktopping process to minimise inconvenience for passengers, and over 45 per cent of the work has been completed.” The contract for the eastern section was signed for Rs 6.21 billion, and work on this section has been ongoing since April 15, 2021, he informed.
The deadline for the completion of the 41.45 km section is April 2024. Rs. 150.13 million has been allocated to pay the compensation for removing 160 physical structures in the Dumre market area under the eastern section of the Prithvi Highway.
A compensation of Rs. 60 million has been set for the removal of 75 physical structures in Damauli Bazaar, the district headquarters.
According to the Project Office, the majority of people of Dumre Bazaar has received compensation, and 80 per cent of demolition works have been completed so far.
