Month-long 'Ex-Balance Nail' exercise between Nepali and US Army begins

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 8: The 41st edition of the joint training exercise between the Nepali Army and the US Army called 'Ex-Balance Nail,' has begun from Tuesday in Kathmandu. The joint training of such a model has been operating between the two nations since 2004. 

A total of 46 security forces including 36 soldiers from the Nepali Army and 10 from the American Army are participating in the joint training exercise, according to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Army Headquarters. 

The training exercise will be conducted in the cantonment and Nagarkot area till March 7, focusing on disaster management, search and rescue and humanitarian aid among others, according to Directorate and Spokesperson for the Nepali Army Brigadier General Krishna Prasad Bhandari. 

The Nepali Army has been participating in joint training and exercises with the military organisations of the United States, UK, India, China, Mongolia, Indonesia and other countries on search and rescue, disaster management, counter-terrorism, mountain climbing and United Nations peacekeeping missions. 

At the same time, the fourth edition of 'Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise Shanti Prayas-IV' is being organised with the support of the Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI) at Shree Birendra Peacekeeping Operation Training Centre from February 20 to 24.
