131 makeshift shelters handed over to local governments

By Our Correspondent,Jajarkot, Feb. 5: One hundred and thirty one temporary houses built for the earthquake victims in Jajarkot and Rukum West have been handed over to two municipalities.

In Nalgadh Municipality of Jarjarkot and Aathbiskot Municipality of Rukum West, 131 temporary shelters constructed in the financial support of Start Fund Nepal and in collaboration with Panchtara Youth Forum and the World Vision International were handed over to the local government.

Such temporary shelters were built for those families who were very poor, single women and people who had not received any support before. 

The shelters were built in Nalgadh-6 and Aathbiskot Municipality-4 taking permission from the District Disaster Management Committee and the local level government, according to Chhavi Panta, chairman of Panchtara Youth Forum.

Iron rod and coloured corrugated sheets were used to construct the shelters along with toilets and drinking water facilities. The 131 temporary shelters were prepared at a cost of Rs. 24 million.
