By Our Correspondent,Syangja, Feb. 3: Physiotherapy services have recently begun at the Syangja District Hospital, ending the compulsion for patients to travel to Pokhara or Kathmandu to receive treatments.
This development, supported by the Gandaki Province government, is a result of improved infrastructure and the acquisition of necessary equipment.
Indra Bahadur Godar, the chairman of the Hospital Management Committee, emphasised the effectiveness of physiotherapy for conditions like arthritis, intoxication and paralysis. This service aims to address a range of issues, including torn muscles, respiratory problems and neck/back pain.
Dr. Rukbina Adhikari, Hospital Head and Medical Superintendent, highlighted that the hospital would utilise both machines and manual techniques, with the duration ranging from half an hour to two hours depending on the nature of the disease while providing treatment.
The introduction of physiotherapy at the District Hospital in Putlibazaar Municipality-3 is a positive step, and it has been well-received by the community.
The hospital, initially approved for 15 beds, has expanded its services by adding 10 more beds under the Hospital Management Committee.
The hospital, situated in the western part of Pokhara, has made significant strides in healthcare services. In addition to physiotherapy, it offers a comprehensive range of facilities, including MGDP, outpatient, surgery, kidney dialysis, maternal and child services, eye and dental care, video x-rays, health insurance, disability support room, and 24-hour emergency facilities.
The recent enhancements have led to a substantial increase in patient visits, with more than 150 individuals seeking medical attention, a notable improvement from previous years when patient numbers were minimal.
