Three new BOPs built in Jhapa

By Our Correspondent,Birtamode, Feb. 2: Armed Police Force Nepal has constructed three Border Out Posts (BOPs) in Jhapa  district. 

Permanent structures of BOPs have been built for the Armed Police Force, which is given the responsibility of border security.

Two BOPs have been added in the Gaurigunj Rural Municipality and one in Kachanawakal, according to the APF.

BOP Lalmati in Gaurigunj-2, BOP Altamari in Gaurigunj-4, and BOP Dagabari in Kachankawal-5 have been established to enhance international security.

The newly constructed BOPs were jointly inaugurated by former Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki, Chief of the Armed Police Force No. 1 Baraha Brigade and Deputy Inspector General of APF Anjani Kumar Pokharel. 

Superintendent of Police and chief of the Armed Police Force No. 2 Devraj Aryal  said that the concrete structures of three BOPs were jointly inaugurated at an event held at BOP Lalmati.

SP Aryal said that four Companies and 17 BOPs are there for border security in Jhapa. He further added that proposals have been made to construct additional BOPs in 15 different locations in the district that borders India in a stretch of 144.2 km.

DIG Pokharel said that the Armed Police could easily mitigate crimes taking place at the border area with the construction of new BOPs.  

Pokharel said that the armed police were working with zero tolerance in the border area with the motive of reducing cross-border crimes.

Former Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Karki said that even though the BOPs have been constructed, the government needed to work for their management as they still lacked essential equipment.

BOP Lalmati has been built on seven kattha land given by local Binita Nemwang Limbu. The concrete building of the new BOP was built for Rs. 10.9 million.

Likewise, BOP Altamari has been built on five kattha of land donated by Babita Kumari Sah, and the structure of the BOP was built for Rs. 8.3 million, and BOP in Dangibari has been built on the land given by local Upendra Prasad Acharya of Dangibari for Rs. 8.3 million.
