11th Bhedetar Food Festival from December 31

By Our Correspondent,Dharan, Dec. 25Hotel Association Bhedetar is gearing up for a three-day food festival, scheduled to commence on December 31 with the slogan, ‘Bhedetar is a jewel of nature, our desire to attract tourists’. 

During a press meeting on Saturday, Tumraj Limbu, the President of the Hotel Association, said that the 11th Bhedetar Food Festival would showcase a diverse array of organic and local ethnic foods.

Limbu emphasised the Association’s commitment to identifying and promoting religious and tourist destinations, fostering an environment conducive to increased visitation. 

Bhedetar is one of the major tourist spots in Koshi Province.

is situated in the Bhedetar Koshi Province, encompassing Some parts of Bhedetar lie in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, Sunsari, and other parts in Ward No. 6 of Sangurigarhi Rural Municipality, Dhankuta.

 Koshi is also a famous tourist destination preferred by domestic and foreign tourists.

Ranging from 1,420 to 1,750 metres above sea level, Bhedetar stands out as a picturesque location in the Koshi region.

Chairman Limbu highlighted Bhedetar’s recent inclusion in the Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality, transforming it into a spatial structure. 

Jitendra Rumdali, the former president of the association, said that  Bhedetar’s beauty, describing it as an appealing destination for one to two days' stay, particularly renowned among the eastern hill districts.

Notably, Bhedetar's comfortable summer climate attracts tourists, especially from the Tarai area of Nepal and neighbouring India, seeking relief from the heat.

The weather in Bhedetar is such that, in a short while, shade will envelop this place, and soon after, the clouds are expected to dissipate, said Rumdali.

According to the organiser, this location, renowned for receiving the second-highest amount of rainfall after Pokhara, gained international fame when CNN’s survey ranked Namche Bazaar of Bhedetar as the fifth must-visit destination among the top 12 in the world. 

The upcoming food festival promises a myriad of attractions, including an agricultural exhibition, ethnic culinary delights, handmade domestic products, a flower nursery, traditional cultural displays, and various adventure sports and tourism activities such as zip lining, sky bridges, and mountain biking, informed the organiser. 

Local and national artists will also perform cultural programmes, enhancing the overall experience for festival attendees, said the organiser.
