By Our Correspondent,Tanahun, June 6: Madhu Thapa Magar, a folk singer from Rishing Rural Municipality in Tanahun, has recently been expanding her musical journey by engaging in music video acting alongside her singing career.

Based in Pokhara and active in folk music, Thapa has contributed to the preservation and promotion of indigenous folk culture through her songs and musical compositions. 

By presenting rural life, culture, and everyday experiences through her songs, she has succeeded in establishing a distinct identity among audiences.

Thapa has lent her voice to songs such as ‘Dhanako Bala’, ‘Bhururu Udeko Chari’, ‘Jhilimili Juneli Raatama’, and ‘Lalupate Phool Phulyo Raatai’, which have attracted the attention of folk music enthusiasts. Most of her songs feature her own lyrics and compositions.

In addition to singing, Thapa has also been acting in various music videos. She said that she is making efforts to present indigenous culture and traditional lifestyles visually through folk music videos.

 “A song is not only a medium of entertainment but also a mirror of society and culture,” Thapa said. “My goal is to contribute as much as I can to the preservation of folk art and to increase its appeal among the younger generation.”

In recent years, her participation in fairs, festivals, and cultural programmes has increased. She has been performing in cultural events held in various districts across the country, continuing her efforts to highlight rural stories, culture, and traditions through folk songs.

She has also noted that the support and encouragement of her family have added energy to her artistic journey, and she remains committed to continuing creative work to preserve the originality of Nepali folk music.
