BY SIRAJ KHAN,Nepalgunj, June 3: Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated the much-awaited Integrated Check Post (ICP) at the Nepal-India border in Nepalgunj on Thursday. Both inaugurated the ICP from New Delhi of India virtually.
After the inauguration, import and export from both countries were carried out at the ICP in the presence of various private sector leaders and government officials of both countries.
From Nepal, Banke lawmaker Dhaval Shamsher Rana, Chief District Officer Bipin Acharya, central member of Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdul Wahid Mansuri, executive director of Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee Ashish Gajur and other heads of security agencies flagged off and sent a truck carrying herbs to India.
Similarly, on behalf of India, Chief District Officer of Bharat Bahraich District Monica Rani, Chief of Police SP Prashant Verma and others flagged off and sent a tanker carrying petroleum and LPG gas and a truck carrying plywood to Nepal.
Abhijit Dadhiwal, executive director of Rajdeep Buildcon Construction Company, said that the construction of the check post, which started on November 25, 2020 with the support of the Indian government, was completed at a cost of Indian Rs. 1.47 billion.
According to him, the ICP, spread over an area of 88 bighas of land on the Nepal-India border, has been built for the staff of customs, immigration, plant and animal quarantine, bank, food technology and quality control office, barracks of Nepal Police and Armed Police, among other purposes.
