Jawalakhel beat Satdobato to jump on top

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 5: Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) jumped to the summit following a 2-1 win over Satdobato Youth Club while New Road Team dented Church Boys United’s chance to go two points clear with a 2-2 draw at Martyr’s Memorial A Division League on Tuesday.

Jawalakhel leapfrogged to the top of the league table from fourth position with 13 points and went two points clear. Overnight leader Satdobato dropped down to third place in a goal difference after a draw with NRT moved Church Boys to second place with an equal 12 points.

At ANFA Complex, Fode Fofana of Guinea and Nkoto Synous Masoabi of Lesotho netted one goal apiece in Jawalakhel’s fourth victory. Dipak Raj Sigh Thakuri scored a consolation goal for Satdobato in a Lalitpur derby.

Fofana broke the dead-lock for Jawalakhel in the 43rd minute through a penalty. FIFA Referee Prakash Nath Shrestha penalized Satdobato for its goalie Abhishek Baral intentionally making a foul against Jawalakhel’s player. Five minutes after the interval, Nkoto Synous Masoabi doubled the tally for Jawalakhel. Striker Thakuri cut the deficit for Satdobato in the 75th minute.

NRT salvage draw

New Road Team (NRT) bounced back from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw against Church Boys at Chyasal Stadium. 

After playing three draws and three defeats, NRT sits at the 13 positions with three points. Nepal Police Club is at the bottom table with one point. 

Goals from Ashish Chaudhary and Anant Tamang put Church Boys ahead but the late surge from NRT in the last 20th minute saw the match end in a draw.

Roshan Khadgi and Saroj Tamang netted one goal apiece for NRT.

Chaudhary opened the account for Church Boys in the 20th minute. Tamang doubled Church Boys' tally in the 62nd minute.

Khadgi cut the deficit for NRT in the 71st minute and a stoppage-time goal from Tamang dented Church Boys’ chance to move atop.
