Bhutan’s prolific striker Chencho joins Macchindra

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 4: Captain of Bhutan national football captain Chencho Gyeltshen will play Martyr's Memorial A Division League from Machhindra Football Club.

The three times league champion Machhindra officially unveiled the Bhutanese football star Chencho in Kathmandu on Monday. 

Defending champion Machhindra is in 11th position in the league standings with five points from five matches. The White Lion so far registered a single victory, played two draws and lost two matches. 

Chief of Machhindra Sunil Kapali and Chencho inked the deal in the presence of the media today. Popular as Bhutanese Ronaldo, Chencho will be featured in the team of the White Lions from the sixth round matches of the first division league. Machhindra will resume the league by taking against Himalayan Sherpa Club on Wednesday.

Before signing with Machhindra, Chencho was playing for the Punjab FC of the Indian top-tier league. Punjab won the I-League this season and was promoted to Indian Super League.

He scored three goals and created five assists in the I-League. Bhutanese striker arrived in Nepal during his national team’s participation at the recently held Prime Minister Three Nations Cup participated by Bhutan, Nepal and Laos at Dasarath Stadium. 

Chencho already had started the training with Machhindra.
