By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 26: Surkhet District Police has submitted an investigation report to the District Attorney’s Office in the case of 16-year-old Inisha BK, who was allegedly raped and murdered.
On Wednesday, the police completed their investigation and submitted a report to the District Attorney’s Office, Surkhet, confirmed Mohan Jung Budhathapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Surkhet, while talking to The Rising Nepal.
"The police have prepared an investigation report based on the statements of the accused and the evidence obtained," said DSP Budhathapa. "Now the case has been submitted for further legal proceedings."
According to him, some technical reports related to the incident have been received and some are in the process of being received, he added.
DSP Budhathapa said that the remaining reports can be submitted even while the case is in the process of being heard in the court.
"Since the police have completed their investigation on their part, the legal process will now proceed through the court and the District Attorney Office," he said.
Inisha, a 16-year-old resident of Badakholi, Gurbhakot Municipality-6, was living with her family in Birendranagar Municipality-1.
On Saturday morning of March 7, she had left home at 6:00 am to attend a tuition class and was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest, north of Birendranagar Municipality-4, at around 9:00 am.
When the police took her to the provincial hospital, the doctors declared her dead. On the same day, the police took a 16-year-old boy into custody from the scene, who has stated that he was Inisha's boyfriend.
Inisha's family and relatives filed a complaint in the name of three others on March 8, alleging that she was gang-raped and murdered. The police arrested the three minors on the same day.
Two weeks ago, the police had sent a team of experts from the CIB, Nepalgunj, and Nepalgunj to Surkhet, saying that they would conduct a scientific investigation.
According to Sudhir Raj Shahi, Superintendent of Police (SP) and Chief of the District Police Office, Surkhet, all these teams have returned after conducting their investigations. Some of the forensic reports they have prepared have come, while others are yet to come.
The police said that the investigation report so far has been submitted to the government prosecutor's office.
Inisha's body has been in the morgue of the provincial hospital for 18 days since the incident.
Inisha's father Indra has said that he will not accept the body until justice is served.
"A heinous crime has been committed against my daughter, she was raped and murdered, justice has not been served," he said.
"There should have been a fair investigation, we will not accept the body until justice is served," said Indra.
