By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 7: The folk-modern style song ‘Kaliyugaki Radha’ was released amid a programme held in Kathmandu on Thursday.
The song was jointly unveiled by senior singers Kunti Moktan, Sukmit Gurung, Monila Sotang and Devika Bandana.
The song features vocals by Babita Manandhar, lyrics by DP Khanal and music composed by Shankar Thapa ‘Smile’. Ashma Bishwokarma and Abhishek Shrestha appear in the music video, which has cinematography by Dinesh Parajuli and editing by Dinson Shah.
Produced by Suresh Manandhar, the song is set to a lively dance beat and portrays love, women’s emotions and the realities of relationships in modern society.
Speaking at the programme, the chief guest and senior singer Kunti Moktan openly praised Babita’s vocal quality, stating that she is capable of doing justice to songs of any genre.
Babita Manandhar began her playback singing career with the film Chalchitra, released in 2000. Over the course of her musical journey spanning more than two and a half decades, she has performed playback singing for nearly two dozen films, including Chahanchhu Ma Timilai, Bouncer and Meri Aammai. In addition to film music, she has lent her voice to around five dozen songs in other genres.
Having successfully established herself as a versatile singer, Manandhar has sung across a wide range of genres, including film, modern, pop, folk-pop and devotional music.
She has performed not only in Nepali but also in Newari, Hindi and Bengali. She has released two Nepali song albums, Bhagya and Prem, and a Bengali album has also been released in the market.
More than three dozen of her songs, including Baadhi Diye Mayako Dorile, Deurali Bhake Hajur and Aatmama, have been major hits.
