Night passenger bus service to start from tonight

Kathmandu, April 14: Kathmandu Metropolitan City is set to start night passenger bus service from today. The bus service will start from Pulchowk at 7:00 pm.     

According to KMC Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol, in the first phase, electric bus service will be operated from Lagankhel in Kathmandu Valley to Budhanilkantha and vice-versa and from Thankot to the airport and back in collaboration with Sajha Yatayat Cooperatives Limited.     

The bus service to Budhanilkantha via Lagankhel will be a 16-kilometer route while the distance from Thankot to the international airport via Satungal is 20 kilometers. The KMC has informed that four night buses will operate on these two routes.     

“The night public transport service is being started to address the problem of expensive travel due to the lack of public transport after 8:00 pm,” said Dangol.     

She said that KMC is working to make the service state-of-the-art, integrated, convenient, safe, reliable and sustainable system-friendly. The buses will operate from until 11:00 pm.     

Buses will depart from the designated bus stops every 20 minutes. CCTV cameras will be installed on the buses and city police will be deployed for security.(RSS)
