Janamat Bangmaya Pratishthan honours ten creators

Kathmandu, Apr. 15: Janamat Bangmaya Pratishthan Nepal conferred various national honours on ten distinguished creators at an event held in Banepa recently.

On the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Janamat Bangmaya Pratishthan Nepal, Dr. Bal Ram Adhikari, President of the Society of Translators Nepal, was awarded the ‘Janamat-Mitra Anubad Rastriya Samman’. The honour was presented in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of translation and promotion of Nepali literature. Notably, Dr. Adhikari was also the recipient of the prestigious ‘Anubad Pragya Puraskar - 2081’ last year.

Similarly, nine other creators were honoured in various categories. Senior politician and writer Mohan Bikram Singh was honoured with the Kamalraj-Janamat Philosophy Literature Honour. Prof. Dr. Chudamani Bandhu received the Hridayachandra-Janamat Senior Creator Honour, and Prof. Dr. Bina Poudyal received the Janamat-Sichi Religion/Culture Honour.

Likewise, Dr. Kabita Lama was conferred with the ‘Bishwashanti-Janamat Migrant Writer Honour’, Nanda Krishna Joshi was honoured with the ‘Janamat-Janak Pradhan Service Honour’, and Prof. Dr. Sabina Shrestha received the ‘Janamat-Deepak Kayastha Health Honour’. 

Moreover, Jagadish Ojha was honoured with Janamat-Gyanratna/Mangaltara National Honour. Rajbhai Pradhan received Janamat-Purnamaya/Luchi Social Service Honour, and Dr. Govinda Acharya received Shantikiran-Janamat Different Ability Honour.

At the event, translator Dr. Adhikari discussed the changing landscape of translation and the role of technology. "In today’s era, to make translation more effective and of higher quality, it is essential to have a proper integration of the translator's individual creativity, human sensitivity, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)," he stated. He added that while technology has made translation easier, human emotion and creativity remain the true soul of the craft.

The ceremony, presided over by the Foundation's Chairperson Mohan Duwal, saw a significant presence of writers, journalists, and intellectuals from across the country.

Dedicated to the service of literature and letters for the past 42 years, Janamat Pratishthan has been consistently honouring creators from various fields of Nepali language and literature 

every year.
