Family robbed after being held hostage overnight

By Bom Lal Giri, Nawalpur, Nov 20: Seven from the same house were held hostage overnight and robbed in Kawasoti, the headquarters of Nawalpur.

Seven people from the house of 46-year-old Sanjay Khadka of Kawasoti-8 were taken hostage and robbed last Tuesday night.

 According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhu Nepal, Information Officer of the District Police Office, two masked men tied them up inside their house for six hours and robbed them.

Police said that the family recognized the looting of an iPhone, two Redmi phones, and gold bracelets. No other items from the house were reported stolen.

According to police, two masked men were seen in CCTV footage. Nepal said that the police have intensified the investigation on suspicion that they came with the intention of killing.

They had been held hostage since 7 PM and escaped after begging for mercy around 1 AM.

According to victim Khadka, they took control of his elderly parents, wife, children, and sister and claimed that they were social activists and had come to find and take action against the local (loan sharking).

Khadka said that they got scared of the threats; however, after being hit on the head family resisted. Despite that, they were robbed of one iPhone and one Redme mobile phone and a gold bracelet, and the robbers fled the scene. 

Local Kapildev Bhusal said that an atmosphere of panic has been created after the incident, which took place in the wee hours of the evening, just about 1 kilometer from the District Police Office, Nawalpur.
