Election of Speaker agenda of first meeting of the parliament

Kathmandu, April 1: The political parties represented in the House of Representatives have reached an agreement to present a proposal regarding the election of the Speaker in the first meeting of the parliament.     

The agreement was reached at an all party meeting held under the auspices of the Federal Parliament Secretariat at Singha Durbar today. The meeting was chaired by eldest member of the lower house, Arjun Narsingh KC.     

General Secretary of Rastriya Swatantra Party, Kabindra Burlakoti, shared that the proposal regarding the election of the Speaker will be presented in the first meeting and the nomination will be held on April 3 and the election on April 5. The parties have agreed to pay tribute to the martyrs of all movements, including GenZ, in the first meeting of the parliament while the top leaders of the party will address the meeting.     

The meeting has decided to conduct the meeting of the House of Representatives using the existing regulation until a new regulation is drafted. General Secretary Burlakoti informed that discussions were also held regarding the selection of the members of the Business Advisory Committee and its chairmanship.     

The meeting was attended by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Padma Prasad Pandey, as well as leaders of the Rastriya Swantantra Party, Nepali Congress, Nepal Communist Party (UML), Nepali Communist Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party.     

The new session of the parliament is starting from Thursday.(RSS)
