By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 1: The United States has lowered its travel advisory for Nepal from Level 3 to Level 2, signaling an improvement in the country’s security and stability situation.

The advisory had previously been raised to Level 3 following the Gen-Z protests that began in September 2025.

According to the U.S. Department of State’s Travel.State.Gov website, the nationwide demonstrations have now ended and the overall security situation in Nepal has stabilized.

“The nationwide demonstrations that began in September 2025 have stopped, and the security situation is stable. However, demonstrations and local unrest can still happen, particularly in cities,” the advisory states.

Despite the improved rating, the department has urged US citizens traveling to Nepal to remain cautious, warning that demonstrations may begin with little notice and can quickly turn violent.

Travelers have been advised to avoid large gatherings and strictly follow the instructions of local authorities.

Under the US  travel advisory system, Level 1 means exercise normal precautions, Level 2 means exercise increased caution, Level 3 means reconsider travel, and Level 4 means do not travel.

The revision to Level 2 is being viewed as a positive sign for Nepal’s tourism and international image.
