Kathmandu, April 1: President of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Kumar Mani Thapaliya, has been appointed as a Board Director of the United Federation of Travel Agents' Associations (UFTAA), the umbrella organisation of travel agencies worldwide.
NATTA President Thapliya was appointed as a board director of UFTAA during its annual general meeting presided over by UFTAA Chairperson Sunil Kumar.
Nepal has participated in the event that will include the involvement of personalities from the world's renowned travel and tourism sector.
Along with Thapaliya, Chetin Gurchun (Turkey), Duminda Kuruwitachchi (Sri Lanka), Yosef Fatael (Israel) and Merizel Manotok (Philippines) have been appointed to the board, according to a statement issued by NATTA today.
Established in 1966, UFTAA is an umbrella organisation of travel agencies worldwide. More than 800 travel companies from around the world are affiliated with this organisation.
It acts as an international forum where matters affecting the world travel industry are addressed; represent and defend the interests of incoming and outgoing tour operators, travel and tourism agencies before governmental bodies, suppliers and other entities of international scope; strengthen its members' image; enhance the world travel and tourism industry and a sustainable tourism.(RSS)
