Home Minister Gurung expects police force to perform in more accountable way

Kathmandu, April 1: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung today visited the District Police Range Office, Kathmandu. During the visit, he directed police personnel to serve the public with accountability and transparency.

Upon his arrival, the Minister was welcomed by senior police officials.     

Following the visit, the Home Minister instructed the police force to carry out their duties in a responsible manner to establish peace, security, and order in society.     

Stating that there would be no unnecessary interference from any level in the performance of their duties, he applauded the police for their contribution to combating crime.     

The Home Minister emphasized the need for the police to make further efforts to promote cordial and friendly relation with citizens by maintaining decency in their words and responses. He stressed that public perception of the police should be improved in a positive way, and that effective service delivery is a key tool to achieve this goal.     

Home Minister Gurung stressed that the police force should keep public service at the center of their work. Stating that the police are playing a leading role in disaster management, he urged them to continue doing so in the future. He also vowed to make the police administration more resourceful by providing training in line with the needs of the time.(RSS)
