Motiram Bhatta Sharshta Samman to Sherchan

Butwal, Oct. 29: Writer Shanti Sherchan from Butwal has been honoured with the Motiram Bhatta Sharshta Samman. 

The honour was conferred by the Nawa Jagriti Library, established in Butwal in 1966, recognising her contribution to Nepali poetry through her poetry collection ‘Manko Sathi’.

A selection committee chaired by Prof. Dr. Hiranyalal Gyawali decided to honour Sherchan with this award.

According to Maheshwor Prasad Shrestha, president of Nawa Jagriti Library, the library has been honouring authors dedicated to the field of literature every year.

Committee coordinator Dr. Hiranyalal Gyawali said that the decision to award Shanti Sherchan was made in recognition of her contribution to the field of poetry.

Honoured writer Sherchan expressed that receiving this recognition has given her new energy and inspiration to remain active and move forward in the field of literature.
