Reconstruction of Gonglung Monastery incomplete due to lack of funds

blog

Taplejung, July 31: There is a financial shortage in the construction and management of the Gonlung Jampaling Monastery located in Tokpegola, Mikwakhola Rural Municipality-5 of Taplejung.

Although reconstruction was initially started with the support of local and foreign donors and the rural municipality budget, the funds were ultimately insufficient.

The work has been halted due to a lack of budget.

A Guthi was established in 1905 BS for the protection and operation of the monastery.

Due to the lack of continuity of the Guthi, reconstruction was started in 2020 under the leadership of local Tenzing Sherpa.

Nepali living abroad, including the US and Germany, had provided Sherpa with Rs. 4.5 million.

Social activist Sherpa said that reconstruction activities, which were started after receiving the funds, have been halted because of the unavailability of enough funds.

He complains that there is a lack of funds to complete the monastery's plaster, floor decoration, ceiling, and other structures.

He has appealed to donors for help.
