Bajura, July 24: Two people died on the spot when a jeep met with an accident in Himali Rural Municipality, Bajura district, on Thursday morning.
Police Inspector Dev Bahadur Chaudhary of the District Police Office said that the deceased have been identified as 76-year-old Bija Rokaya and 75-year-old Bacha Rokaya of Quidi, Himali rural municipality-5, Bajura.
According to Chaudhary, the jeep (Ba Pra 03-001 Ja 0338), which was coming from Quidi village towards the ward office of ward number 5, met with an accident at Tunigada.
Police suspect that the accident may have occurred because of overcrowding, leading to lost control on a dirt road.
Jeep was carrying passengers coming to renew their Social Security allowances.
Fifteen people onboard the jeep were injured.
Chief Administrative Officer of Himali Rural Municipality Kul Bahadur Thapa said that the rural municipality has sent health workers along with an ambulance to the scene to rescue the injured.
Police said that further details about the incident are pending, and an investigation is underway.
