Damphu, Tungna park build

Makwanpur, Feb. 3: A park featuring traditional musical instruments used by the local community has been constructed in Ward No. 2 of Kailash Rural Municipality, Makwanpur district.

 The park has been constructed with the budget of the Bagmati Province Government to preserve and promote arts and cultures in the rural municipality. 

Under the multi-year plan of the provincial government, Damphu Park and Tungna Park have been built in Baikuntha of Ward No. 2.

Ward Chairperson, Rajendra Ghising, said that Damphu Park has been completed under the provincial government’s multi-year plan while Tungna Park and Chituwa Park within the Damphu Park premises are in the final stages of construction.

 He further added that the construction of Damphu Park, along with Tungna Park and Chituwa Park, which began in the fiscal year 2023/24, would be completed in the current fiscal year.

He further said that to preserve the art and culture of the Tamang community, sculptures of traditional musical instruments used by the community, including the Damphu (drum) and Tungna (Musical string instrument) have been built in Damphu Park.

A sculpture depicting men and women dancing with the Damphu has also been installed in Damphu Park. 

Additionally, Chituwa Park, which features sculptures of three leopards, along with Tungna Park and Love Park, is being constructed within Damphu Park with a total budget of Rs. 3.4 million.

The provincial government allocated Rs. 1 million in the last fiscal year for the construction of the park, while an additional Rs. 2 million has been allocated in the current fiscal year, he added.  

He said that Love Park is also being constructed with the budget of the rural municipality at a cost of Rs.  400,000.
