By Our Correspondent,Khotang, Aug. 29: Endangered red pandas are found in the jungles of Khotang. Many programmes are being carried out for their conservation. Based on the conservation programme, wool hats having the red panda's picture on them are being made.

The wool hat with the picture of a red panda on it is produced in Patheka of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagdhi Municipality-10.

These hats are being prepared to generate awareness about the conservation of red pandas found in Merung Community Forest and Kopchhe Community Forest.

The hat consisting of the logo of the red panda is presented as a token of love to the guests during the programme in various wards.

Ward Chairperson Mugadhan Rai said that they were sticking the logo of the red panda on the goods produced at the local level to give impetus to the conservation and promotion of red pandas.

With the economic support of the Red Panda Network, the Khotang Public Welfare Society has organised a conservation programme in Fungalung and Bagale Community Forest of Kapilasagdhi Municipality-1 and Merung and Kopchhe Community Forest of Patheka.

Based on the programme, women from Patheka and Fedi are given employment opportunities to produce such hats.

Red pandas are called 'Kudo' in the Sampang Rai language. A community-based red panda conservation programme at Fedi and Patheka was conducted in the fiscal year 2022/ 23.

Birendra Magar, Chairperson of the Public Welfare Committee, said that hats with red panda logo would be purchased for various programmes.
